The COCD IT Career Bridge is a workforce-aligned, credit-bearing language pathway program that prepares bilingual and internationally experienced talent for entry into information technology, digital support, and emerging tech careers.
The program functions as a Competency-to-Credential Pathway, translating informal digital skills and global experience into recognized IT certifications and workforce outcomes.
The pathway treats language as digital infrastructure, ensuring participants can communicate technical issues, follow system processes, understand documentation, and operate effectively in IT environments.
It also creates a direct bridge into industry-recognized certifications and partner programs (e.g., Per Scholas), eliminating language as a barrier to entry into high-demand tech careers.
The work aligns with the following IT roles:
IT Support Specialist
All legal immigrants who know the English (Roman) alphabet and can access email via phone or computer may apply. English skills are assessed upon admission.
Students are placed into Level 1, 2, or 3 based on assessment. The program is designed for individuals with or without prior IT experience and supports transition into certification and training pathways.
Level 1
Result:
Participants gain foundational digital and language skills required for entry into IT training programs such as Per Scholas.
CEFR: A1 to A2+
Level 2
Result:
Participants are prepared to enter IT certification pathways (e.g., CompTIA A+, Google IT Support) and succeed in structured technical training environments.
CEFR: A2+ to B2+
Level 3
Result:
Participants are prepared to transition directly into IT certification programs, employment, or advanced pathways such as cybersecurity, cloud, or data systems.
